New Saw Palmetto Study Surprises Canada Pharmacy Online - No Relief for BPH Symptoms

Men have always had a problem because of an enlarged prostate, and the gland grows bigger as they grow older. A new study now finds people commonly using saw palmetto to find relief from symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) can actually resort to a placebo, as relief from symptoms remain the same. Canada Pharmacy Online is surprised, as people have been using plant extracts like saw palmetto seeking relief from lower urinary tract symptoms connected with BPH for a long time.

Saw palmetto is the most common of all plant extracts used in Europe and the United States; however, its effectiveness in treating BPH has never been verified. The prostate gland is responsible for producing fluid delivering sperm at the time of male ejaculation. It is located around the urethra, and it is not certain why it gets enlarged.

Older people seem to be affected more. Symptoms include urgency of urination, hesitation, and frequent urination. People buy Proscar and other medication to find relief from symptoms. Minimal invasive therapies and surgery are also needed when complications arise.

Sometimes, the condition of BPH itself leads to removal of testicles. The prostate gland then begins to reduce in size. Researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston studied the effects of increased saw palmetto dosage on patients suffering from BPH. Even after dosage was increased three times the normal level, urinary tract symptoms did not reduce in comparison to a placebo treatment.

A total of 369 men volunteers, 45+ years, and suffering from BPH were randomly chosen for increased dosage of either placebo or saw palmetto extract. BPH was confirmed between the period June 2008 and October 2010 in volunteers who came from different parts of North America averaging 61 years of age.

Results surprised Canada Pharmacy Online, as after 72 weeks, 42.6% of volunteers treated with increased dosage of saw palmetto extract demonstrated 2.2% improvement according to the American Neurological Association Symptom Index scoring pattern. On the other hand, people treated with placebo were found to demonstrate a 3% improvement in 44% of cases. Placebo treatment clearly scored over the saw palmetto treatment with a 0.79 point increase in score.

The study also monitored results of increased dosage, and a high dosage of 960 mg tried on volunteers showed similar results. Another point researchers noted was that several functions associated with BPH including excess urination at night, quality of sleep, inflammation of the prostate, urinary bother, and continence did not show any marked improvement in comparison with placebo.

Products made of saw palmetto extract may contain ingredients capable of reducing symptoms of BPH. The study proved saw palmetto may not be very beneficial in treatment of BPH. However, as side effects are not evident, people can safely use the extract to find relief from lower unary track symptoms with placebo effect.

In the future, agrees Canada Pharmacy Online, people may find a way to extract precise chemicals from saw palmetto berries capable of helping patients suffering from BPH. Until then, the pharmacy advises people to adapt tested treatment plans for early relief.
